The Resurrection

The resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead is the keystone of the arch of salvation. Remove it and the whole structure of the plan of salvation crumbles in the dust.

The Sting

Years ago, while I was walking in the field with my two young boys, a bee stung the elder of the two just above his eye. He quickly brushed it away and threw himself in the grass, kicking and screaming. No sooner had the bee been brushed away when it went straight for the younger son and began buzzing around his head. He tried to hide in the tall grass and began screaming for help. I picked him up and told him not to worry—the bee had lost its stinger.

The Burned- Over Place

Some early settlers were traveling together across the western prairies of the United States. One day they were horrified to see a fire fanned by strong wind coming their way.

Alone With God

A committee was assigned to tour a factory to judge its efficiency. These people were shown the various departments where many large machines were making a great deal of noise. Then they were led to a much smaller and quieter room containing nothing but control panels.

No Place For The Devil

A teacher in a Bible school gave his students an hour-long exam. They were to spend half their time writing about the Holy Spirit and the other half about the devil.

Making Faces At A Bulldog

I read a humorous story about a little girl who was making angry faces at a bulldog. Her mother noticed and asked her to stop. The girl said, "But Mom, he started it!"

Favorite Verses

When an elderly minister was asked to give his favorite Bible verse, he replied, "Half a dozen come to mind. On stormy days I want a cloak. On cold days I want the sunny side of the wall. On hot days I want a shady path. I may want a shower of manna or a cool drink of living water. I may want a sword. In fact, I might as well try to decide which of my eyes is my favorite. 'All Scripture . . . is profitable'" (2 Tim. 3:16).

Redeemed!

Among the many names given to our Lord in the Bible, one is especially dear to me. It is the name Redeemer.

The Measure Of Love

Love delights to give. Tell me how much you give and I will tell you how much you love. Giving is the acid test of loving.
